Siddhanth is a year old now
Siddhanth ( Jillu) has become a year old now . Its hard to sense the passage of time. Between taking care Siddhanth , managing jobs and all of the regular chores , we never realized how fast time had passed.
Siddhanth actually turned a year old on the 21st of May .
When he woke up , we sang "Happy Birthday" . He must have been a little dumbfounded to see people gather around him and suddenly sing a tune , he would have never heard before. Because of my tight work schedule we cut the customary cake a day earlier.
We had a get-together of family and friends to celebrate this birthday on Saturday , May 23rd in a nearby clubhouse. I got delayed watching the IPL match between the Chennai superkings and the Bangalore Royal Challengers . I rushed to Diddams in San Carlos to pick up the birthday balloons . Packing a cluster of gas filled balloons is quite a challenge and driving with them is even more of a challenge. While returning , I decided to stopby to pick up the birthday cake and other essetials for the event.
By the time , I had reached the venue , the caterer had arrived and I had to move all of the food to the event hall .
Around 11 Am it started to get a little busy with people pouring in . Jillu seemed to have fun , meeting a lot of new faces this day and playing . Generally he seems to be very gregarious and usually goes all the way to enjoy himself in the midst of a crowd. Finally around noon , most of the guests had arrived , forming small colonies and discussing a common top such as IPL , Company bashing , weather , stocks etc .
Finally we decide that its time to cut the cake. Jillu again is a little overwhelmed by the enormity of the crowd. The birthday cake has a Thomas Engine theme . After everyone sang " Happy Birthday" , blowing the candle out with Mommy's help , Jillu gets a little taste of the cake .
Finally everyone is ready for lunch . We feel that we had a simple yet delicious menu . There a few guests who arrive a little late . Cleaning is always a pain everywhere in the world. We finally manage to leave the place in somewhat similar fashion as before.
All in all a memorable day . Jillu got a lot of gifts , including some cool toys .

Siddhanth ( note the th) finally arrives
After an arduous wait of almost 24 hrs ,Siddhanth arrives on May 21st 2008.
I am at the fag end of the day and virtually have no energy , but this life changing event , drives me further to make a special note of this day.
I have no words to thank Dr Pamela Goodwin , our gynecologist , the nurse staff at ENH Evanston , especially Nurse Kathy who really motivated and encouraged all of us in the process.
Siddhanth was born at 10 02 AM weighing 9.15 lbs and measuring 21 inches.
This day in my records is dedicated to the courage of mothers who give birth to their kids.
Today's day has reminded me of the selfless nature of the certain individuals ( healthcare), whose encouragement and support still lingers so as to mark this process of child-birth as a very memorable one that I will never forget.
I still cannot fathom the tenacity ,focus and levelheadedness of doctors such as Dr Goodwin who are willing to persist day after day after day. I salute you.
